Cheryl Cole Says Upcoming Solo Album is Her Best So Far
Cheryl Cole, best known as an X Factor judge and member of Girls Aloud, has been anticipating her proper U.S. debut with her upcoming solo album. Recently, when talking about the songwriting and recording process, Cole called the work, titled A Million Lights, her best yet.
Yet, Cole, who has emphasized her lyrical contributions to her first two solo releases, only penned two tracks herself on Million. Rather, lyrics end up being too personal, and Cole doesn’t want to reveal them. In discussing this, she told the press: ''Every record I've made, there are songs I've written that I haven't put out because... well, I don't want to. I write for my own pleasure sometimes.''
She went on to clarify, stating: ''But you have to connect with something you're singing about. I'm not going to sing about a subject I've not got any feeling for.''
Even on tracks she did not write, Cole still put forth her input and described the experience as: ''the most fun I've ever had.''
Back in the fall, Cole had a handful of collaborations in the works, all with the purpose of introducing her to the U.S. charts. These included working with Justin Bieber, according to The Mirror, and going into the studio with David Guetta. Manager Will.i.Am had been arranging for high-quality guest appearances for Cole’s album. Cole even re-recorded a track with Will.i.Am, which had originally featured X Factor contestant Cher Lloyd.
A Million Lights is scheduled for a June 18 release. While no singles from it have been released, Cole previewed the track “Love Killer” in May.
