Cher Says to Expect New Single in September
Remember, a year ago, when Cher was working on a duet with Lady Gaga? While the single’s existence dissipated for nearly 12 months, Cher discussed that track, her new album, and tour. Unfortunately, for the latter, the singer has bad news.
Talking to fans on Twitter, Cher revealed that the first single off her upcoming album will see the light of day on September 4. That track will not be the Lady Gaga duet, however. Instead, “The Greatest Thing” – the title of their duet – is expected to be the album’s second single, although no release date has been announced. Cher tweeted: “Duet w/Gaga is Great! Think its 2nd single! 1st 1 is set 4 sept. Its my Fave!”
If you can recall, Cher and Gaga finished recording “The Greatest Thing” in July 2011, with an intended release of September 2011. That never materialized, but at least based on recent news, fans will get to hear the track, which was originally written for Cher as a gift from the “Born This Way” singer. RedOne produced the track.
As far as the album’s concerned, work on it had apparently started in 2010, which Cher revealed when promoting Burlesque. Along with Gaga, Cher had Diane Warren contribute multiple songs to the release and additionally mentioned that the album would not sound like “Believe.”
However, in regards to a tour, it looks like Cher’s has been delayed as a result of foot surgery. Through Twitter, Cher explained: “About tour this yr. I broke [my] foot in the ’80s, & between Burlesque and falling on thrown hat on stage! I have 2 have minor work done on my foot! It must have time to heal b4 i go running back & forth across stage like [a] crazy teen!”
