Cher Lloyd Starts Working on New Album
Can Cher Lloyd’s Swagger Jagger carry her to success with another album? Those on the other side of the Atlantic will need to wait and see. While the former X Factor contestant is currently in the midst of a U.K. tour, she recently told The Mirror she’s putting together a follow-up to 2011’s Sticks + Stones, which has yet to see a U.S. release. The “Want U Back” singer, courtesy of Sugarscape, said: “ I’ve done a few songs and can’t wait to get the album out there.”
Additionally, Lloyd is recording a few extra tracks for the U.S. release of her debut.
Placing fourth in the talent competition in 2010, the pint-sized singer said not winning has given her more creative freedom. In February, she explained: "I don't have no one holding me back. No one ever will. I'm allowed to do whatever I want creatively. I might have come from a reality TV show, but I'm not a puppet and I won't be treated like one. You can't put me in a box. If you're going to be somebody, do it your way."
Not winning has an additional benefit for Lloyd. So far, since she’s been signed to Simon Cowell’s Syco, she’s been one of the more successful artists the British reality television competition created.
Aside from spending time in the studio to record her sophomore album, the “With Ur Love” signed a deal with Epic Records, L.A. Reid’s label, at the end of 2011. Reid, one of the judges on the U.S. X Factor, apparently thinks Lloyd can hit it big on this side of the pond. Do you agree?
