Cher Lloyd Performs New Single on ‘X Factor’
A year ago, Cher Lloyd had a hit album and multiple high-charting singles in the U.K., but could the X Factor fourth-place finisher translate that success in the U.S.? With Sticks + Stones and single “Want U Back,” on L.A. Reid’s Epic Records, it appears she has. Added to her list of accomplishments was a standing ovation-worthy performance of new single “Oath” on the U.S. X Factor last week.
While the audience clapped after Lloyd’s performance, judge Simon Cowell gave the singer two thumbs up. If you hadn’t tuned into the television program on November 22, watch Lloyd’s memorable performance below:
“Oath” is one of multiple changes made to the U.S. version of Lloyd’s debut. If you can recall, the album came out and charted well in the U.K. just about a year ago, but before it was released stateside, adjustments for the American audience were made. In addition to song “Oath” were collaborations with RedOne, Shellback, Savan Kotecha, Kevin Rudolph, Busta Rhymes, and Chad Wolf. Since its release nearly two months ago, Sticks + Stones made it into the Top 10 of the Billboard 200. Do you think “Oath” will turn into another hit for Lloyd?
While the U.S. is just getting its first taste of the “Swagger Jagger” singer, Lloyd apparently already has plans for a follow-up release.
