Charice Planning for New Album Next Year

A global star set to take the American charts by storm, Charice Pempengco has proven herself both as a singer and in acting. While in the United States the singer is best known for her role on Glee, she has two albums under her belt and, in an interview at the 2011 Teen Choice Awards with HollywoodLife.com yesterday, revealed that she’s recording a third, set for release next year.

The Filipino singer is still working on it and wants to get it as close to perfection as possible. She mentioned: “I’m still working on it and it might come out early next year. There’s no official date because we want to put great songs on the album. We don’t want to rush it. I know that people have been waiting.”

So far, she stated, about 20 songs have been recorded, including tracks written by Nick Jonas and Bruno Mars: “I have recorded a lot of songs…like 20 plus. But so far maybe like 12 songs for now [on the album], but maybe more.” The track written by Nick Jonas came out last month as single “One Day.”

Aside from recording another album, the international pop star has additional plans for acting. While she hadn’t given any information out about a return to Glee, she is appearing in a film with Salma Hayek and Kevin James, titled Here Comes the Boom.

Last night was Charice’s first time at the Teen Choice Awards and admitted on camera to being nervous. She was asked to present the Inspire Award to Demi Lovato; because the singer’s doing a concert and promoting in Japan, she quickly had to catch a plane after the event.

Citing Lady Gaga and Beyoncé as inspiration for her music, Charice described the song and video recorded for “One Day” as: “[A]ll about reaching for your dream, no matter the odds.” Watch the video here:
