Celine Dion To Sing 'Smile'

Celine Dion is getting ready to perform Michael Jackson's favourite song, "Smile", at the upcoming Oscar Awards on Sunday 27 February. Originally released by Nat King Cole, 'Smile' has been a very popular song made famous by Charlie Chaplin. So taken is she by this popular song, that Celine will continue to perform "Smile" at her all-new Las Vegas show.

At the Oscars, Dion will sing as footage of celebrities and film technicians who have passed away during the previous year is projected onto the big-screen at the back of the Award's stage. This is the sixth time that Celine will perform at the Academy Awards.

Last year at the 2010 Grammy Awards, she was part of a tribute to the King of Pop, Michael Jackson. Recently in an interview with People Magazine, Dion announced that she has been signed up for another three year residency at Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas where Celine will continue to honour her idol. She commented that the show include, "all the songs from my repertoire that people want to hear" and will also have a selection of music from classic Hollywood films.

In regard to Michael Jackson, she explained, "He changed my life. I saw him on TV and I wanted to sing in English because he was, so and I went to learn English and met with him and I (sang) with him and he came to see the show and he had a big impact on my life."

In 2009, Michael Jackson's brother, Jermaine, sang the Charlie Chaplin song at the King of Pop's memorial concert.

Back in 2004, Celine Dion was recognised at the World Music Awards as the best-selling female artist of all time, and at that time had sold over 200 million albums world-wide.

She made a massive hit with the theme for the 1997 blockbuster movie "Titanic", the song 'My Heart Will Go On'. It has become one of the biggest selling singles in history.
