Carrie Underwood Picks Reese Witherspoon to Portray Her
In recent years, there have been so many movies about dead music legends which, if done correctly, almost guarantees an Oscar for the actor portraying the artist. When I think of these movies, there are some older titles that were impressive (like Val Kilmer’s turn as Jim Morrison in The Doors) but more recent films like Ray (Jamie Foxx was literally amazing!) have taken the genre to new heights.
Another such title, Walk the Line, starred Joaquin Phoenix as Johnny Cash and Reese Witherspoon as June Carter Cash. Audiences loved the film and, at least, one famous person also took notice.
Country music superstar, Carrie Underwood, had some very flattering things to say about Witherspoon. She said: "If I died tomorrow and they wanted to do a movie about me, I've always loved Reese Witherspoon and I feel like we have the same stature. We're about the same height and she can sing."
Well, singing a June Carter Cash song and a Carrie Underwood song are two entirely different things but who am I to argue with a country star?
Hopefully, Underwood stays safe and sound for now for a couple of very good reasons. The first, of course, is that she’s too young to die and the second is that Witherspoon is already very busy – she’s preparing to become a mother for the third time (her first child with new husband, Jim Toth).
