Carrie Underwood Begins Writing Material for Next Album
What many don’t know about Carrie Underwood is, she has had a hand in writing a fair amount of her own material. Rather than just be a successful singer, she penned eight out of 14 tracks on her last release, 2012’s Blown Away, and recently, it was revealed she’s doing the same for a follow up.
This week, Radio.com tweeted, per Taste of Country, that the former American Idol winner has been putting together some tunes for a new album: “Is @carrieunderwood writing these days? "Yes!" She told @radiodotcom, "a lot lately" and "it's going well!"
Very little is known about the follow-up to Blown Away, so we’ll have to see what unfolds.
Blown Away marked Underwood’s fourth studio album. Released in May 2012, the album opened at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 – the same time her song “Blown Away” ranked at the top of the singles chart. This debut marked the singer’s third No. 1 album, tying her, in the country world, with a record set by Faith Hill and Linda Ronstadt.
Since Blown Away became another success for the singer, the album went onto sell 1.648 million copies and turned into the seventh best-selling album of 2012 as a result.
If you’re a fan of this Idol turned country superstar, what would you like to see her do on her fifth studio album?
