Carly Rae Jepsen Loves Talking About Justin Bieber
Six years ago, Canadians watched a young 21-year-old woman named Carly Rae Jepsen stand in front of the judges with her guitar in hopes of making it on to Canadian Idol. She did really well, making it all the way to third place and released a successful album afterwards. Of course, her early music didn’t make it south of the border but her fellow countryman, Justin Bieber, gave her a little boost that ultimately changed her life.
Bieber first tweeted about Jepsen’s future megahit, “Call Me Maybe,” then created a Youtube video of him singing lip-synching to it (along with friends including girlfriend, Selena Gomez) and eventually signed her to his label and invited her to go on tour with him.
It all started because the Biebs was home in Ontario, washing dishes at his mom’s place when he heard the catchy tune come on the radio. The rest, as they say, is history.
As a result, Jepsen is asked about him all the time but in a recent interview with Cosmopolitan, she explains: “I never get tired of being asked about him. I’m forever indebted to him for the lovely boost that he’s given me.”
While it’s true that Jepsen worked hard for years to achieve success, there’s no denying the power of being endorsed by someone as popular as Justin Bieber so it’s great that she is appreciative rather than resentful of their connection.
