Calvin Harris Teases Potential New Material for Later in March
Producer Calvin Harris teased his fans on Twitter with an announcement about new material. What he plans to reveal, we don’t know yet, but there are several possibilities.
Harris posted this week: “New music from me on 14th March.”
Now would be about the time for the house music producer to put together a follow-up to 2012’s 18 Months – his third and most successful album to date.
Although two releases preceded it, I Created Disco and Ready for The Weekend, 18 Months marked a change for Harris’ career: One, he wasn’t doing all the singing and instead collaborated with a range of artists from Ne-Yo to Florence and the Machine; two, he opted for a progressive house instead of electro vibe; and three, global success first came from collaborating with Rihanna on “We Found Love.”
18 Months, as a result, created nine tracks that entered the U.K. top 10 singles. In the U.S., the album peaked at No. 19 on the Billboard 200 – an achievement for an electronic artist.
Because of Harris’ career changes, new material could mean collaborating with another artist on a single he’s producing, like he recently did for Rita Ora, or introducing more of his own material that could lead to a new album – we’ll have to wait and see.
