Britney Spears Reveals ‘Britney Jean’ is a More Personal Release
From “Baby, One More Time” to “I Wanna Go,” Britney Spears’ output rarely can be called “personal.” It’s more about partying or relationships on a superficial level, but few truly know much about Spears. Her upcoming album Britney Jean is expected to change that.
In an interview with Capital FM earlier this week, the pop star revealed the album title and then went onto describe her intentions: "It's a personal album, and all my family, they all call me Britney Jean, it's like a term of endearment, and I just wanted to share that with my fans."
Continuing what looks to be a U.K. press tour, the singer spoke with Alan Carr and got into the more personal nature of the release. Considering she broke up with Jason Trawick, once a conservator and boyfriend during her Femme Fatale days two years ago, the release is partially about their relationship.
She told Carr: “Most of the songs are about celebrating having a good time,’ she added, ‘but I went through a break-up with this record so some of the stuff that I went through is on the record.”
Spears further mentions one of her songs deals with cheating: “There’s a beautiful ballad called Perfume and it’s about a girl that knows her boyfriend is cheating on her. She just wants him to smell her perfume so she can mark her territory on him; it’s a really beautiful song.”
What do you think about Britney’s new direction? Do you want to see a more personal side of the singer?
