Britney Spears Accused of Plagiarism

Pop singing sensation Britney Spears is accused of Plagiarism by Us Rockers The Bellamy Brothers. Britney Spears Accused of Plagiarism

Britney Spears is finding herself in hot water over her song "Hold it Against me", which according to US rock band The Bellamy Brothers sounds too much like their 1979 song, "If I Said You Had a Beautiful Body Would You hold It Against Me", and as a result are reportedly taking the pop queen to court.

The words ripping off" and "too close" have both been used by Howard and David Bellamy when comparing Britney Spears track to their own. The song is taken from her up and coming record, Femme Fatale. Both songs have gong to number one in their respective charts.

David Bellamy who forms one half of the Bellamy Brothers said to the British Newspaper The Daily Star: "Howard and I have no personal beef with Britney. Shes a talented gal. But professionally we feel completely ripped off. We will without doubt take the appropriate legal action if our attorneys agree weve been ripped off."

A spokesperson for Britney Spears was tight lipped when responding in the same newspaper: "If this is now a legal matter then I am afraid we would have nothing to say until our lawyers have been alerted."

At the time of writing this article, it appears that no law suit has actually been issued for similarities between the songs. Should The Bellamy Brothers successfully file and win the law suit, they could stand to claim millions of dollars in compensation.

Both brothers are said to be meeting with lawyers in the near future.
