Bret Michaels: Poison and Motley Crue Joint Tour
Bret Michaels, frontman for American glam metal hard rock band Poison, has just made an announcement that his band will team up with Motley Crue for a joint anniversary tour. Supporting them will be the New York Dolls as a special guest.
Michaels originally made the announcement last November, but was then forced to amend his statement when drummer from Motley Crue, Tommy Lee, adamantly quashed all statements. Lee told all their fans that the Poison frontman was absolutely wrong.
That was November. Now the two bands have been able to agree and will perform for a series of gigs. Michaels couldn't be happier, especially having iconic rockers New York Dolls as a support act.
Talking to CNN, Michaels said, "Huge, it's coming, are you ready? All that stuff I talked about is coming. It will be the tour of the summer. That's what the promoters are calling it, that's what I'm calling it. It will be Poison's 25th anniversary tour along with Motley Crue's 30th anniversary tour and a very special guest will be coming with us on the road. Poison and Motley Crue have never toured together. It will be the rock tour of the summer. The New York Dolls (are the special guests). They're a great band and it will be their 40th anniversary."
'(There's Gonna Be A) Showdown' is perhaps one of the New York Dolls best tracks.
Tickets for the joint tour will start selling on March 18. There will be a series of concerts, culminating in a joint concert Poison and Motley Crue event on Sunday May 29 at ROCKLAHOMA. Further combined gigs will follow.
Poison has sold more than 30 million records worldwide, has charted 10 singles in the Top 40, and the Hot 100 number one single 'Every Rose Has Its Thorn'.
Motley Crue has been around since the early 1980s and to date has sold over 80 million albums worldwide. From their ninth studio album 'Saints of Los Angeles', released in June 2008, came the single of the same name. iTunes voted the single 'Saints of Los Angeles' in their "Best of 2008" in the Rock category as the number one song.
