Bobby Womack Battling Colon Cancer
Soul legend, Bobby Womack, is battling colon cancer according to a post bass player, Bootsy Collins, published on Facebook. He wrote: "I JUST SPOKE TO OUR FRIEND BOBBY WOMACK. He Wanted You All to Know That He Loves You & Thxs for the Prayers. Docs Says He Is In 1st Stage of Colon Cancer, He is Very Up Beat About His Future, we laughed & joked before we hung up. Thxs Funkateers, we will get him Back on the One!"
The 68-year-old, who is an inductee at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, is best known for hits like “Woman’s Gotta Have It” and “If You Think You’re Lonely Now” but also appeared on the 2010 Gorillaz album, Pink Beach, after going on tour with them.
Despite the serious diagnosis, and a past with prostate cancer and drug addiction, both Womack and Collins are optimistic about the future. Undoubtedly, his legions of fans and the artists he has worked with and inspired are also hoping for a quick recovery.
