Black Keys' Patrick Carney Marries in Nashville
Patrick Carney is a married man. After proposing just hours before the 2011 Grammy Awards in Los Angeles, the Black Keys drummer tied the knot at the Nashville home he shares with his new bride, Emily Ward. The backyard ceremony, which was officiated by comedian Will Forte, was attended by about 350 friends and family. Definitely not a small affair!
Ward looked beautiful in a Caroline Herrera dress as she walked down the aisle to “Crimson and Clover.” She was accompanied by the couple’s Irish wolfhound, Charlotte. Sounds like a unique wedding!
This is not Carney’s first marriage. He was previously wed to writer Denise Grollmus for two years but they divorced in 2009. She later wrote an article on Salon about the “rock and roll marriage” and said that “Before the Black Keys won Grammys, before the drunken fights and infidelity -- Patrick and I were very much in love.” That is pretty sad.
In case you are unfamiliar, the Black Keys could really be described as a garage band that became popular for reviving the genre in the early 2000s (along with other artists). The duo consists of Carney and guitarist/vocalist, Dan Auerbach, both of which dropped out of college to pursue their musical talents. Since then, they have sold more than 2 million albums in the United States alone.
