Black Keys Announce New Album With Video
We’ve all been wondering what the Black Keys have been up to since El Camino – their most successful album to date. We’ve heard about them in the studio, but now it looks like an album will arrive soon!
This past weekend, the duo took an unusual approach for promotion – but one not that far off from how they promoted El Camino. If you can recall, a video with a used car advertisement-like style announced that album, and now, they took it a step up by mimicking a 1980s infomercial. Mike Tyson’s official Twitter account tweeted the link.
The video lasts about two minutes with no mentioning of the release or the band – just some trippy-looking footage. But then that blue screen comes right at the end with all pertinent details.
So, based on this video, the album’s called Turn Blue and is expected to come out by May 13.
El Camino came out in 2011. Produced by Danger Mouse, who was behind their major label breakthrough, the release was recorded in Nashville at the band’s East Eye Sound Studio. As their best-performing so far, it peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 with 206,000 copies sold its first week. Later that year, it went onto win Best Rock Album at the Grammys.
