"Big Wheel" Video Review
If you were an angsty teen in the 1990s — as I was — chances are you spent a lot of time listening to Tori Amos. I haven't followed her career as closely lately, but I still like digging out her old albums now and again. Plus, I appreciate the fact that Amos (unlike, say, Liz Phair) has kept her ass-kicking indie integrity intact over the years.
On May 1, she'll release her ninth studio album, called American Doll Posse, and I've managed to get an early listen at "Big Wheel," rumored to be the album's first single. The song has a countrified rock feel that I like, plus plenty of Tori's trademark piano flourishes.
This clip starts out as the biggest celebration of multiple personality disorder (officially known as dissociative identity disorder these days, I know) I’ve ever seen, and then just proceeds to get crazier from there. Watch out for subliminal shots of dogs and donuts. Then Tori starts chanting M-I-L-F. That’s B-A-N-A-N-A-S. Still think the song sounds way too much like KT Tunstall though.
