Big Boi Working on Second Solo Album

The Atlanta rapper is hard at work completing his sophomore solo album; he plans for it to be lyrically superior. Big Boi Working on Second Solo Album

Outkast’s Big Boi is returning to the music scene with an upcoming album, sans long-time partner Andre 3000. The album will be completed under his Daddy Fat Sax alias and will be titled under the same name.

According to the Atlanta-based rapper, the album will be of the highest lyrical caliber, saying to Complex Magazine that it will be, "S-A-X-X-X triple unadulterated funk to the extremest level."

He added in his usual funky meets hardcore dialect, "Straight lyrical assassin, and the beats are going to be as hard hitting as always. “

The album is nearly done and Big Boi is busy in the studio perfecting its jazz-influenced sound, saying to music and film website Tiny Mix Tapes, “I’m planning on a doing a bunch of sax samples, tenor, soprano, and probably have at least a couple sax players come into the studio for the next record.”

"I'm 17 songs into it now, everything is sounding phenomenal. I could put it out tomorrow if I wanted to, but I'mma marinate on it because I'm on the road.”

Fans who crave seeing Outkast in double shouldn’t be worried. Big Boi and Andre 3000 are planning a reunion album to be released sometime in 2012. Until then, hip-hop heads can prepare to be wowed by Big Boi’s solo effort, which features protégé Janelle Monae, another funky artist music lovers have been clamoring to hear more from. "She's somebody whose hand you don't have to hold,” he said. “She's got a creative mind, she's got a great spirit. She's a good girl and I'm proud of her. She's making me very proud."

That’s all that Big Boi is revealing—for now.

“I’mma let everything else be a surprise, and just let it speak for itself."
