Big Boi: No New Outkast Album
Right at the start of the year, OutKast got our hopes up. The hip-hop duo known for “Hey Ya” announced a reunion of sorts, with an official tour planned. Then an album was rumored.
But now, Big Boi spoke with Revolt and revealed that the group has no intention to record again, much to fans’ disappointment. Echoing a statement Andre 3000 gave to GQ a while ago, he explained that the reunion is simply to celebrate their 20 years of history – an act for fans, yes, but not one that will result in an album. He said at first: “No, no, no. We’re just doing the tour only, just for the fans. That’s all it is, just the tour.”
Big Boi then followed that with: "It's just the OutKast 20th year anniversary. Just a way for us to celebrate with our fans, but there's no album in the works."
OutKast weren’t the ones to imply an album might drop. Instead, former manager Queen Latifah went on Howard Stern, and during her interview, she told the shock jock that OutKast had been in the studio putting together a new album – but ended it at that.
That’s not to say fans won’t get to see OutKast perform in 2014. Instead, the two have performances lined up for Drake’s OVO Fest, where they will co-headline, Coachella, and the Governor’s Ball in New York.
