Ben Harper Releases His Tenth Studio Album 'Give Till It's Gone' With a Guest Appearance by Ringo Starr Ben Harper Releases 'Give Till It's Gone'

American singer songwriter, Ben Harper, has just released his tenth studio album "Give Till It's Gone". Known for his coverage of a huge range of musical styles, this album again measures up. The latest release contains rock songs, ballads, R&B and even some tracks with a synthesizer-mix. The songs are an expression of all the personal issues plaguing his life at the moment. One of the quieter tracks, "Pray That Our Love Sees the Dawn", on which Jackson Browne makes a guest appearance, is undoubtedly Harper's effort to muster the strength needed to work through the recent fracturing of his marriage to actress Laura Dern. The track, "Don't Give Up On Me Now", is another message of the pain he is now going through.

"Rock N' Roll Is Free" is an ideal supplement to his extensive on-stage selections. Future concerts are likely to see the track as the opening number with its guitar work and unforgettable melody. Hear the track and read the review at Rolling Stone. Other tracks that will no doubt feature in live performances are the guitar heavy soul-blast "Clearly Severely" and the rock-R&B song "Spilling Faith" which features the drum brilliance of former Beatle Ringo Starr.

The idea for "Rock N' Roll Is Free" came to him when he performed at a recent Neil Young concert as an opening feature. Harper said, "He (Young) was singing 'Rockin' in the Free World,' and my mind turned into a tunnel. All I heard was 'rock, free, rock, free.' I went back to my room and I wrote the song 'Rock 'n' Roll is Free' in its entirety, I was so inspired by Neil that night."

This album marks the end of an era. His contract with Virgin/EMI was written up to complete ten albums. Now that the contract is finished, it is unknown at this stage what the future holds.
