Ben Folds Five Releasing New Album in September

After not releasing an album of new material in 13 years, Ben Folds Five are putting out a new record in September. Titled The Sound of the Life of the Mind, the trio’s new album comes out on September 18 through ImaVeePee Records/Sony Music Entertainment.

Aside from being a disc of new music after over a decade, the new album is notable in another regard: it was created out of a grassroots campaign on PledgeMusic, which connects fans and artists with charities. For The Sound of the Life of the Mind, funds from the record and other items go toward supporting Music Education and Music Therapy – causes chosen specifically by the group.

Fans waiting to see Ben Folds Five won’t have to wait long. Just days before the album hits stores, the trio begin their North American tour and, before the end of the year, hit locations in the U.K., Ireland, and Australia. Their full list of tour dates includes:
