"Barricade" Video Review

NYC indie dignitaries Interpol have made a new song from their upcoming album. "Barricade" is decidedly more upbeat than its predecessor and its safe to say it’s still very distinctly Interpol – dark, moody, churning and enigmatic.

The music video is not as creepy as their last video, counting the fact that singer Paul Banks's head is projected onto various torsos. The rest of the band play their instruments in a field. At it's heart, the Moh Azima directed clip is a pretty basic performance piece, but its constant changes in location and randomly inserted details make it a bit more interesting.

The self-titled effort is slated for a September 14, 2010 release, following up 2007's "Our Love to Admire". The record is due out on indie Matador Records after a a stint with Capitol Records for their first two full-lengths, 2002's "Turn on the Bright Lights" and 2004's "Antics". The band will be supporting U2 this summer and playing headlining gigs on that tour's off days.
