Baby and Sporty Spice Releasing New Single
After a decade away from each other, the Spice Girls reunited in August to perform at the Olympics Closing Ceremony in London, but new material was never announced. However, the group’s members have attempted solo careers, each with varying degrees of success, and a duet between Baby and Sporty Spice looks like a byproduct of both their solo endeavors and the Girls’ recent reunion.
Yesterday, reported by The Sun, Emma “Baby Spice” Bunton and Melanie “Sporty Spice” Chisholm were at ITV Studios in London promoting their duet, a cover of “I Know Him So Well.” While a parody track, with Susan Boyle, was released last year, the 1984 original was recorded by Elaine Paige and Barbara Dixon. Bunton and Chisholm’s duet is scheduled for a November 11 release.
About collaborating, Chisholm said: “I wasn’t sure she would do it but when I asked her she squealed! It was so emotional when we first heard our voices together again. It’s so Spice Girls. I’m so excited for people to hear it!”
Around the time all five Spice Girls reunited, rumors that the group would never perform together again began to circulate. Gerri “Ginger Spice” Halliwell denied such statements, stating that none of the members have rifts with each other.
Victoria “Posh” Beckham expressed similar sentiments in an interview prior to the Olympics ceremony, hinting that the Spice Girls may do something else together. Unfortunately, she didn’t state whether they would perform more, do a full tour, or record new material.
