Azealia Banks Holds Fans Over With 212 Mixtape
To keep fans satisfied until her debut album drops this fall, rap fire starter Azealia Banks is readying a mixtape, titled after her hit song, "212," for release in the interim. The EP, which includes the saucy single, will feature new songs like “1991” and “Grand Prix,” according to Banks’s Twitter feed.
Banks spoke to fashion magazine Nylon about her upcoming album.
“It’s called Broke with Expensive Taste and it’s coming out in September,” said Banks to Nylon.
“The theme is a young girl trying to find it – that girl who’s at the end of her childhood trying to get a job and make some money,” she added. “She needs to get what she can get. She needs to go out there and show people she knows how to work for it.”
Banks is definitely working for it – and getting it. Despite being a newcomer to the industry, she is already holding her own in the music and fashion world. She is a regular in Karl Lagerfeld’s envied social circle, she had front row access at London Fashion Week and she is scheduled to perform at Coachella in April. She is also working with artists like M.I.A. and Rita Ora.
Broke with Expensive Taste is scheduled to be on store shelves in September.
