Avril Lavigne & Chad Kroeger Engaged

Twenty-seven year old singer Avril Lavigne is officially engaged to Nickelback’s lead man Chad Kroeger.  While many where unaware that the two were even a couple, EW and several other outlets have dropped the news that the two plan to wed.

Lavigne, who was previously married to Sum 41’s Deryck Whimbley, is ready to give marriage another try with Kroeger who she has been dating for the last six months.  The couple apparently hit it off after working with one another on Lavigne’s fifth studio album.  The news of their engagement was revealed by a friend of Avril’s who told People Magazine, "A romantic relationship blossomed as they spent time writing together.  He makes her so happy.  Both of their families could not be more excited."

Kroeger and Lavigne reportedly got engaged on August 8th, with Kroeger popping the big question with a 14 carat diamond ring.  This would be the first marriage for the Nickelback artist.  Details involving their wedding or a date have not been announced with both singers yet to comment on their big news.
