Are New 'American Idol' Judges Nick Minaj and Mariah Carey Feuding Already?
Some people had predicted that rapper Nicki Minaj's fiery personality and her lack of singing experience could create problems for her on the jury panel of singing reality show "American Idol," but no one had thought that the fiery Jamaican star would start feuding on day one of her new gig.
According to a report published by celebrity news site TMZ, Minaj and her fellow-Idol newbie Mariah Carey have already started disliking each other despite the fact that the show's auditions began only on Sunday.
On the first day of the auditions in New York City, Minaj was constantly interrupted by Carey during her evaluations of the contestants. That caused the "Super Bass" raptress to increase her volume every time her turn came to voice her opinion, and this is the whole basis of TMZ's claim.
The publication also managed to squeeze in a supporting quote from an unnamed show insider, who told them: "These girls just don't like each other."
On Monday, when the two stars in question were approached by MTV News to comment on this situation, Carey categorically rejected the existence of any rifts between them. However, such an answer was expected.
"How are we gonna feud in two days? A feud takes a little longer to spread out [than that]," Carey said before describing the 'Idol' judging experience as "It's fun, it's music, it's singing, it's laughter."
The look on Minaj's face seemed to be in agreement with Carey's statement but she didn't verbally say that everything is hunky-dory for her, leaving some room for celebrity gossipers to try and make something out of her muted response.
