Arcade Fire Beginning Work on New Album
Although they had two albums under their belts, Arcade Fire broke into the mainstream with their third release, 2010’s The Suburbs. This release ended up helping them secure top placement at Coachella and Bonnaroo, along with an appearance on Saturday Night Live, and earned them a Grammy. Now, according to an interview drummer Jeremy Gara did with Ottawa radio station CKCU, Arcade Fire have spent time in the studio to put together a new album.
However, although the band has been working in the studio for a few months already, they have no clear deadline. Their label and management aren’t clamoring, just yet, for a follow-up to their 2010 breakthrough. Gara explained: "We are just working like we always have. We took a couple months off and we've been writing songs. Now we're in the studio pretty much full-time just doing what we do. And we kind of shut the door. We haven't really gone out and done anything in over a year now. We haven't done photos or interviews or anything. We're just working on music and growing beards and living at home a lot and going out to dinner together."
Between this potential 2013 and Suburbs, the group put out a track titled “Safe and Sound” for the Hunger Games soundtrack. Gara revealed they plan to work through Christmas, with the material generally done by spring next year.
