Aqua 'How R U Doin?' Music Video

Danish pop group Aqua could've retired comfortably on all the dough 'Barbie Girl' has and will eternally bring them. The band has amassed over 33 million album and single sales worldwide but everyone knew lightning was just about to strike again when the quartet reunited in 2009 for a greatest hits record.

'How R U Doin?' is the first offering from Aqua's forthcoming third studio album and thankfully, it still captures the band's signature pop hooks - albeit tailored for a 2011 market. In fact, before LMFAO, Pitbull and these kids came along, who do you think defined this combination of fluorescent pop with rap? That's right. It's time these Danish trendsetters came back for the throne and compete for a place in a pop market they had a hand in shaping.

To say this is Aqua's first new recording since their hey day would be false advertising. The band had thrown together three new tracks on their 2009 Greatest Hits compilation but none of the singles 'Back to The 80s' and 'My Mamma Said' managed to snatch platinum records world over. It just didn't position the band in their fighting best in a pop decade reigning with Katy Perry, Justin Bieber and Black Eyed Peas.

'How R U Doin?' is the comeback single Aqua fans have been waiting for and if there's any justice, radios world over will be adding this to their daytime playlist. The video itself appears to be an elaborate production, albeit done in a painfully monotonous fashion.

So, they've constructed a cardboard city in a dirt bike race course and had the group split into two cars, outracing each other. The adrenalin-rush they're inducing in the race sequence is fine but would it have killed to have a few different scenes?

The band's styling is gracefully age-appropriate. They still look like rockstars but their wardrobe's not about to go wild with whatever the Jonas Brothers or Miley's flaunting on stage. Lene looks like that mean, bad ass aunt you clock chain smoking on the porch at every family reunion - and that's how it should be.
