Angel Haze Announces Single “A Tribe Called Red” From ‘Dirty Gold’
Although she came to mainstream prominence partially through a feud – and diss track – with Azealia Banks, Angel Haze is making her way into the spotlight. She has put out multiple mixtapes since 2009 and now has an official debut album scheduled for March 2014. Its latest single, announced this week, is “A Tribe Called Red.”
Already, the lyric video is up online.
The single follows other cuts from album Dirty Gold. “Echelon (It’s My Way)” is the official lead-in single, while “New York” created a bit more buzz. Producing and songwriting are expected to come from Sia, Mike Dean, Malay, Greg Kurstin, and Rudimental.
As far as the album is concerned, the rapper born Raykeea Angel Wilson told Digital Spy earlier: "The album is sonically so different to anything I've put out before."
She then went onto say: "It's partly due to the fact that before, I never had the resources to make the music I wanted to make. I took it upon myself to throw everything I love about music into the album, which obviously took some coaching."
Although mixtapes like New Moon and Altered Ego began popping up in 2009, the Reservation EP caught labels’ attention, and Haze was signed to Universal Republic and then to Republic Records. Her first official release was the New York EP in 2012.
