Amon Amarth Returning to North America This Summer.

Swedish melodic death metal veterans Amon Amarth will come back to the United States and Canada, following the success of their springtime tour. Amon Amarth Returning to North America This Summer.

Amon Amarth, hot on the heels of their wildly successful North American and European tours, have confirmed that they will return to North America at the beginning of August. In a statement on their official website, the band says:

"The spring tour turned out to be so successful, and we had such a great time playing the double sets each night, that we decided to bring 'An evening with Amon Amarth' to the rest of [North America], including Canada!"

The "double sets" referred to in their statement were one of the more unique aspects of their spring tour. The band played two sets per night with no opening acts supporting them. The first set consisted of every song from their eighth studio album "Surtur Rising", and the second was comprised of older fan favorites. Released in North America on March 29, "Surtur Rising" currently rests at a comfortable #20 on Billboard's hard rock charts. Metal Hammer, a German magazine (not to be confused with the UK magazine of the same name) even named "Surtur Rising" March's album of the month.

All things considered, they have every reason to want to keep the ball rolling. Their extensive advertising campaign for "Surtur Rising" (the album even has its own website) undoubtedly contributed to the hype necessary to sell out shows on both sides of the pond. Amon Amarth played to full houses in Chicago, St. Paul, and Denver in April, and upcoming shows in Hamburg, Cologne, and Paris will also be stuffed to the gills!
