"Always Together" Video Review

On February 26th, London-based three piece Big Strides release 'Always Together', the bluesy, woozy, fun(k) rock ode to a relationship, taken from their album 'Cry It All Out', the follow up to their acclaimed debut 'Small Town, Big Strides'.

The new single was produced by eclectic knob-twiddler Dan Swift (Art Brut, the Datsuns, Winnebago Deal, Snow Patrol and Aqualung). According to lead singer Marcus O'Neill, Swift (somewhat cryptically) "calls this our Eminem song - which kind of sums up how pointless it is to try and pigeonhole stuff."

'Always Together' is followed by a radio-session recording of 'What's Wrong With Lucy?' (featured on the album in its studio incarnation). O'Neill says: "Lucy lives in Essex and never goes out. Does she just sum up everything that's wrong with modern life in general, or does she have a really sinister story? I didn't know either."

Track three, 'Soundcheck Bitch', came about, (as the title might suggest) from a soundcheck, in an already crowded venue. The lyrics reflect the need they felt to let the people know that the gig hadn't started yet, with an added 'bitch' to really make it clear. Having cooked up a groove worthy of keeping, they later committed it to tape.

Hailing from small British outposts, (Marcus - Ipswich, Lewis - Kirkcudbright, Scotland and Chris - Whitehead, outside Belfast) founding member Marcus formed the first incarnation whilst at Uni in Leeds. Wanting to take things further, Marcus saw it necessary to move to London, where, on hooking up with original bassist Tom Pi and drummer Lewis Kirk, they recorded debut 'Small Town Big Strides'.

Big Strides release 'Always Together video' on Tall Order on 26th February '07.
