Alice in Chains Reveal Fifth Album Title

Alice in Chains announced their upcoming album will be called ‘The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here.’ Alice in Chains Reveal Fifth Album Title

Alice in Chains began working on a follow-up to their 2009 comeback album Black Gives Way to Blue in 2011. With first single “Hollow” out officially in January 2013, the band has plans to put out their fifth studio album in the spring and recently revealed its title.

The upcoming album, now slated for May, is being called The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here, and its first single, “Hollow” debuted in December 2012. Getting fans involved in the process, Alice and Chains put out a lyric video with images submitted through Instagram.

Black Gives Way to Blue was the band’s first release in 14 years and was their first after frontman Layne Staley’s death in 2002. For vocals, William Duvall joined the band for Black Gives Way to Blue and appears on the upcoming release.

What’s different about The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here is, Alice and Chains decided to forego guest appearances. The 2009 release featured Elton John. Jerry Cantrell, however, previously explained the band’s decision to work with the well-known singer, stating: "He's the guy who inspired me to start playing music, so to have him play on one of our records - especially such a meaningful record, where we're restarting our musical careers and saying goodbye and honoring our buddy - it's a tremendous thing."

If you haven’t heard “Hollow,” listen to the track and see the official video below:
