Adele Sells More Than 5 Million Discs In The US
Adele, with her 21 album, has reached another milestone - becoming the first album since 2004 to sell more than 5 million copies in the US. The album to previously hold that revered honour was Usher's Confessions.
According to Reuters, Adele's legendary album has sold more than 5.6 million copies just in the US alone. This second disk was really boosted with her incredible performance at the 2011 Brit Awards in February, coupled with the worldwide popularity of the lead single Rolling in the Deep.
These sales figures (for this year) put Adele ahead of Lady GaGa with Born this Way selling over 2 million and Michael Buble's Christmas album following closely behind.
Now that Adele has the throat surgery to remove a benign polyp behind her, she has begun rehabilitation with some "basic vocal training". This emergency has forced her to cancel all her live commitments for the last few months of 2011. In blogs on her website, Adele has thanked her fans for all their support and good wishes during her treatment and recovery. However she has specifically informed her fans that a follow-up to 21 is not on the immediate agenda. Following all medical procedures, the recovery process always takes its time. Adele has said that she will be taking a break to get better first. She is planning a new album, for which she has ideas to write songs, but it is unlikely that a new album will be seen for at least two to three years.
