Adele’s New Album May Drop Later in 2014
Adele has said very little about her follow-up to 2011’s 21. Collaborators and unnamed sources have all come forward, but this week, it appears as if the singer herself is dropping a hint.
Adele just celebrated her birthday, and with it, she tweeted: “Bye bye 25... See you again later in the year x”
For those of you not familiar with Adele’s way of titling albums, she’s gone with her age, so far: 19 and 21, so calling an album 25 makes a lot of sense.
Along with this, The Mirror points out, Adele started talking about her progress at the recent Grammys, saying she’s in the early stages.
Beyond these few statements, co-songwriter Ryan Tedder has come forward on more than one occasion to speak about working with Adele. In one interview last year with a U.K. newspaper, he explained that the singer sounds better than ever.
Other sources talk about collaborating with James Ford and Kid Harpoon, who previously worked with the Arctic Monkeys and Florence and the Machine. As well, other unnamed sources talk about motherhood changing the “Someone Like You” singer, who might be opting for a more uplifting tone this time around, rather than sing about failed relationships.
As well, Adele has a lot to live up to: 21 is the best-selling album of the century to date.
