"A Beautiful Lie" Video Review

"A Beautiful Lie" is the fourth single by the band 30 Seconds to Mars from their sophomore effort A Beautiful Lie.

Though initially released during the summer, the release date of the song has been pushed back to early 2008, possibly due to the long delay of the music video.

According to EMI Japan, the video for "A Beautiful Lie" was going to be shot in both Alaska and the North Pole. Jared Leto then moved the video to Greenland and the band has started shooting since August 29, 2007.

Jared said that the video will be environmentally safe and for every download of the video, it will go to an environmental charity.

The video is showing the importance of global warming and was directed by Angakok Panipaq. It features hidden messages and a support website abeautifullie.org.

The video is a montage of images of the Alaskan environment interwoven with scenes of the band playing on the edge of an iceberg. Only the three remaining members of the band feature in the video, touring bassist Tim Kelleher does not make an appearance. The video contains two hidden messages about Global Warming. The first one is a message that reads "WE ARE ALL GUILTY NO MATTER WHAT MAKE A DIFFERENCE TURN OFF YOUR TV GO OUT SIDE AND BREATHE" set in front of a multi colored sphere, most likely representing the earth.

Also, The video ends with a message to the viewers: "Turn this off right now and go outside and breathe." The message is written upside-down and with the letters written backwards; not mirror-imaged, but the letters are typed out backwards.
