A$AP Rocky Calls Debut Album “The Best Record Ever”
A$AP Rocky’s debut album LongLiveA$AP is scheduled to drop in January 2013, after two delays. The release was originally intended for September 2012 but was moved to late October. However, because of mastering and clearing samples, the release was then pushed back again, this time to January 2013. Now as the rapper gets ready for the album, he spoke with NME.
In the interview, he claimed his New Year’s resolution is: "Just to put out the best f-cking record ever. I think I've done that so maybe I need another one. I like creative control. I'm passionate about sh-t, y'know. I like it to be just how I want it."
What’s unusual about A$AP Rocky’s debut is the collaborations. Unlike other hip-hop albums, he works with artists across multiple genres, including Skrillex, Kendrick Lamar, Drake, and Florence Welch of Florence and the Machine. Regarding the collaborations, he told the music magazine: "I have this really eclectic taste. I was always into Motown, The Beatles, Nirvana, all that sh-t. I like anything with soul - them soul organs. I'm not like a pop fiend or whatever.”
