4 Non Blondes Rocker Calls Katy Perry's Music 'Crap'

Katy Perry has one successful career so far.  From her chart topping albums, her marriage to Russell Brand, and her entrance into the movie arena, so why would singer and songwriter Linda Perry take a swipe at what has made Katy a huge success?

According to The New York Daily News, the forty-six year old Linda Perry, who mainly works behind the music scenes helping singers like Christina Aguilera and Pink, recently sat down for an interview with music journalist Heath Daniels.  During the Q &A Linda professed that she doesn’t know why anyone would want to buy Perry’s album.  "It's the crap, like who wants a f---ing Katy Perry record? I'm sorry, you know? You're gonna get the two songs that are probably the hits that are good, but the rest of the album is gonna be crap.”

Continuing on a tirade, Linda also stated that Perry’s music isn’t the same as her peers in the industry right now.  “It’s just different, it's different.  You listen to the Adele record, and I'm not a huge fan of Adele, it's a solid record. A solid record, and it's selling. OK? so that means people are still buying records.”

The 'Teenage Dream' songstress has made her mark in history, pushing far beyond the realm of bubblegum queens, and is working on breaking the hardest of records.  Currently tying with the King of Pop, Michael Jackson, Perry has made her way into Billboard Hot 100 History after earning the number one spot for five songs from the same album, leaving those in the media curiously watching to see if she'll push ahead, and deliver a sixth song.

Meanwhile, Linda Perry is looking past those accomplishments.  “It's going to sound like s--t and who cares about buying that record?  So people download the single and then that's it.”  Linda, who is reportedly working on her own band called Deep Dark Robot, did however, manage to throw some back handed compliments Katy’s way.  "She's great for what she does. But she's not reinventing the wheel, she's not giving substance. She's just giving, you know, microwave popcorn for you to feast on right at this moment. You know, that's it.  And that's what she wants to do obviously. She's not looking to change the world musically, she's not. So all the power to her and everybody that is like that."

How does a pop princess like Katy comment with the whole world watching?  By Twitter, she simply states "Good sherlock holmes listeners know there's LOTS of interesting info in them songs!!!"
