1D’s Louis Tomlinson Injured in Charity Soccer Match
Remember the announcement earlier this summer about One Direction’s Louis Tomlinson signing with the Doncaster Rovers? The member of the popular boy band played the charity game this past Sunday – and ended up injured in the process!
What happened on the field was this: Tomlinson attempted to take the ball away from the opposing team’s defense when Gabriel Agbonlahor approached. When the pop star tried kicking the ball to the right, the soccer player collided with him, which caused Tomlinson to fall.
After the incident, Tomlinson left the field to be replaced, and then vomited. It’s been reported that Agbonlahor apologized after the game, and the two are now on good terms.
But that doesn’t mean 1D’s most ardent fans didn’t target the footballer. Since the game, Agbonlahor started receiving death threats through Twitter.

Even if this incident means Tomlinson isn’t cut out for a career in soccer, his group saw success over the past few weekends with One Direction: This Is Us. The concert film directed by Morgan Spurlock drew $18.5 million during its first week in the U.S. and, since that point, has domestically grossed $23 million. Globally, the film has pulled $50 million – not bad considering it had a $10 million budget.
For those that can’t get enough of the 1D boys, Sony plans to distribute an extended version of the movie, starting Friday, September 13. 20 minutes of additional footage and four songs were added to the original cut.
