We’ve been hearing about the status of the Foo Fighters’ next album for some time. At one point, an Instagram photo of master tapes implied that the band was done recording. And, in 2013, Dave Grohl mentioned the release would come out at some point in 2014.

However, it doesn’t appear that the band is as far along as they’ve previously implied. Producer Butch Vig, who worked with the Foo Fighters on 2011’s Wasting Light, spoke with Kerrang recently and revealed the status of the album.[…]
